Case Report
Rociletinib-related bilateral cataract
Abstract
Ocular toxicities related to systemic antineoplastic treatments are underestimated. This is a case report of a bilateral cataract of acute onset secondary to rociletinib. The clinical course of the cataract was more rapid than a typical senile cataract, with a severe impact in the patient’s quality of life. Surgical approach with a bilateral cataract surgery was needed to restore both the eye and the general patient functioning. The case is a reminder of the potential toxicities related to new antineoplastic drugs and the need for an interdisciplinary approach to recognize and treat these ocular toxicities.
